Cold-Blooded Lies

Cold-Blooded Lies
As each lie drips down my spine
I try to ignore the burn from the cold,
And yet, I see the scars left
Every time I turn around;
Like a knife in the back,
I remember all the words you said
That sliced me open
And left a wound—
The blood that secretes
Holds my secrets
And dormant trauma
That haunt me in my dreams;
I feel your cool breath
Whisper on my cheek as I sleep,
Exciting chills and confusion,
Telling me I'm not enough.
